What is It?
Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of cancer that develops from the thin layer of tissue that covers many of the internal organs. i.e. Mesothelium.
What Causes it?
According to studies, more than 80% of mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos. The risk increases with an increase in exposure to asbestos. It is even more common with people with jobs related to its mining and use. As of 2013, about 125 million people have been exposed to asbestos at work. It is also caused by genes. Some people have genetic disposition of having this cancer.
What Are the Symptoms?
The symptoms, include shortness of breath due to fluid around the lung, a swollen abdomen, chest wall pain, cough, feeling tired, and weight loss. However, these symptoms usually come as the late stage of the diseases, which makes it difficult to catch.
